The school is regularly inspected in line with Government regulations. Since changing to Academy status in July 2018, the latest OFSTED inspection was done in October 2022.

Anglican School Inspection – In addition to Ofsted, as a Church of England school we are inspected on a regular basis by the Diocese of Sheffield as part of the Church of England Education Office. Details of this can be obtained from the Church of England Education Office website.
Our last inspection showed that Canon Popham Primary School “[…] through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners.
It is clearly evident that the Christian values which are at the heart of this school promote an excellent education. Children are exceptionally positive about learning. They display enthusiasm, confidence and maturity. All are obviously happy at school.”
